McGraw-Hill UME

Architecting a Unified Digital Ecosystem for Medical Students

The Ask: The challenge was to create a seamless, cohesive user experience across the entire product family while preserving the unique brand equity of each individual tool.

The Solution: A comprehensive design strategy and a 12-month, prioritized product roadmap to guide the client's internal engineering teams. The final deliverable included a unified product dashboard, a global navigation framework, and an expanded design system to serve as the "North Star" for future development.

My Role: Lead product designer & mentor

OUR GOAL
Architect a "North Star" design vision & strategic roadmap for the future of McGraw-Hill's undergrad medical ecosystem
strategic approach

From a fractured portfolio to a unified vision

Our process was focused on turning a complex portfolio of products into a single, intuitive ecosystem. We moved from deep analysis to a clear, actionable vision that their team could execute on.

Landscape & analysis

We started with a heuristic audit to pinpoint inconsistencies in MGH's products, followed by a competitive analysis to benchmark against top learning platforms.

Unification strategy

I led workshops to establish a 'hub and spokes' model with a central dashboard as the student's landing. We prioritized features and developed a 12-month roadmap balancing user needs and feasibility.

Designing north star

I designed a cohesive user experience with global navigation and a centralized dashboard, guiding our stakeholders towards the unified vision across their product ecosystem.
